Mike Dunavant

Deputy Executive Director, Legal Services & Policy

Mike Dunavant serves as the Deputy Executive Director of Legal Services & Policy, leading the Legislative, Legal Services, Training, and Child Support divisions of the Conference. He previously served as Chief Investigative Counsel for the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Division of Investigations. Prior to his tenure with the Comptroller’s Office, he was appointed as U.S. Attorney of the Western District of Tennessee, representing approximately 1.6 million Tennesseans as the chief federal prosecutor and legal representative of the U.S. from 2017 to 2021.

Mike has extensive experience with the Conference, previously serving as the District Attorney General of the 25th Judicial District, which includes Lauderdale, Tipton, Fayette, Hardeman, and McNairy counties, from 2006 to 2017.

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his law degree from the University of Mississippi at Oxford.
