Spreading Awareness

In response to the rising rates of prescription medication and synthetic drug abuse in Tennessee, the TNDAGC launched a new public education campaign called “Deceptive Danger.” The name of the campaign is inspired by what we believe is driving these rising rates – Tennessee’s youth believe that, if a substance came from a pharmacy or a convenience store, it must be safe.

Don’t be deceived; this is not true, and thousands of Tennesseans die each year because of this misconception.

How we’re reaching our communities:

  • Traveled all across the state to make presentations and distribute materials to local middle and high schools
  • Launched a Deceptive Danger DVD that included both testimonials on the devastating impact of a drug addiction and the legal consequences of using and selling prescription medications and synthetic drugs
  • Created and distributed brochures and pamphlets that highlighted the dangers of these substances

If you or someone you know needs help with a drug addiction, call the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug and Other Addiction Services (TAADAS) REDLINE: (800) 889-9789.
