Stephen D. Crump

Executive Director

Stephen D. Crump was named Executive Director by Tennessee’s 32 District Attorneys General in March 2023. He began his service in July of 2023. Prior to this appointment, he served as the District Attorney General for the 10th Judicial District, which includes Bradley, McMinn, Monroe and Polk Counties.

A graduate of Carson-Newman University and the University of Tennessee College of Law, Crump served as an Assistant District Attorney in the 10th Judicial District for almost a decade. During that time, he supervised the prosecutions in two counties and tried numerous high profile and complex cases, including several death penalty cases.

In July 2014, Gov. Bill Haslam appointed Crump to serve as District Attorney General. He was elected to a full term later that same year and re-elected in September 2022. While DA, Crump served as Chairman of the TNDAGC Legislative Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee. He also represented the Conference at several regional “Best Practices” conferences that consider significant and emerging issues in prosecution.  In 2022, Crump was the 2022 recipient of the Conference’s highest honor, the Patrick H. McCutchen Award for his dedication to the goals and ideals of Tennessee’s District Attorneys. He served for several years as a Hearing Panel Member for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.

Crump is an active member of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) and National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators (NAPC) and serves on the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility’s Hearing Committee.

A native of Cleveland, TN, Crump now splits his time between East Tennessee and Nashville. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church in Cleveland where he served as a deacon and is active in the music ministry.
