The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Child Support Specialist II. The purpose of this position is to progress cases through the legal system to ultimately provide and enforce child support. The specialist establishes paternity, establishes a legal obligation of financial and/or medical support and enforces the obligation through a variety of remedies. The work is performed within legally mandated time frames and in compliance with federal and Tennessee laws, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Secure information from customers to complete all necessary legal documents
• Secure necessary financial information to determine an appropriate support obligation in conformance with Tennessee child support guidelines
• Prepare the necessary legal documents
• Assure that cases are prepared accurately for the child support attorney's approval. In paternity cases, contact the alleged father and attempt to secure a stipulation of paternity
• Initiate actions to secure payment: wage withhold, liens, contempt
• Secure medical coverage as stipulated in the court order
• Conduct reviews and modifications
• Answer inquiries from custodial and non-custodial parents regarding case status and actions taken
• Explain the process to all parties involved and initiate timely interstate actions.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of case information
• Maintain good relations with Clerks of Court, law enforcement, and the public and private sector in general

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications

• Operate computer keyboard
• Read and interpret computer screens and court orders
• Understand and apply policies and procedures involved in child support
• Accurately enter information, produce documents and timely completion of required actions from a computerized case management system
• Effective written and oral communications skills and public relations skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees, customers, attorneys and external organizations

Compensation

• Monthly: $3,407.00

The District Attorney’s Office, 26th Judicial District of Tennessee is seeking an Assistant District Attorney.  This position will be responsible for handling a fast-paced caseload in Madison County General Sessions and Juvenile Court.

The 26th Judicial District of Tennessee encompasses three counties: Madison, Chester, and Henderson. The position is in Madison County.

Responsibilities

• Representing the state in court proceedings, which includes but is not limited to arraignments, preliminary hearings, and sentencings.
• Managing a caseload while collaborating with law enforcement officers, victim advocates, forensic experts, and other stakeholders involved in prosecutions.
• Communicating with crime victims and their families.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Compensation

• Salary will be commensurate to experience.
• Salary is determined in accordance with Tennessee Code § 8-7-226

• Prosecute felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and specialized criminal cases
• Review police reports and determine appropriate criminal charges
• Prepare cases for Grand Jury presentation and trial
• Develop trial strategy, conduct plea negotiations, and determine sentencing recommendations
• Interview witnesses, secure expert testimony, and prepare cases for court

• Participate in continuing legal education and professional development
• Provide training and support to less experienced attorneys, as assigned

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee (or eligible through reciprocity)
• Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents, statutes, case law, and procedural rules
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft legal pleadings, motions, and written advocacy clearly and persuasively
• Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to present arguments and information effectively to judges, juries, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public
• Proven reasoning and analytical skills, including the ability to define legal issues, evaluate facts, apply law to complex situations, and draw sound conclusions
• Ability to exercise professional judgment and discretion in high-stakes and sensitive matters

• Prior experience in criminal prosecution or criminal litigation
• Courtroom experience, including motion practice, hearings, or trial work
• Experience conducting legal research and applying case law to charging decisions and trial strategy
• Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently while meeting deadlines and procedural requirements
• Experience interacting professionally with victims, witnesses, law enforcement agencies, and defense counsel
• Experience presenting persuasive oral arguments in contested or complex matters

• Annual salary range: $70,872 – $185,724
• Salary will be commensurate with experience and assigned ADA level
